LIFE SUMMED UP IN 1-MIN
A short answer to that would be, only you can determine that for yourself. You have to take a look at your current situation, your current career, financial standing, life stability and other important things you need to take into consideration before you can decide if its something you should and can do.
There will be a lot of reasons why you should quit your present occupation right away to follow your dream path, such as gaining fulfillment, becoming happier, reducing stress. But there can also be lots of reasons for why you shouldn’t chase your dream job, like not enough pay, you would have to relocate, no available health/dental/etc. insurance.
“…no matter if they agree/disagree, support or not support you in your choice, always remember that YOU are ultimately going to be the one living with the outcome of your decision.”
You can ask people you care about on their thoughts or some advice when it comes to making this decision BUT no matter if they agree/disagree, support or not support you in your choice, always remember that YOU are ultimately going to be the one living with the outcome of your decision. Whether it be you become the best version of yourself that you always daydream about or if you stay stuck in that “safe” job that pays the bills but leaves you empty, you will live how you chose.
The 2 major factors that go into the career search method is research and networking. This is something that you can still do without quitting your day job, and highly recommended. Modify your online profiles to match the dream job that you are searching for. Join groups on social media that are related to the industry you are interested in. Add useful information to the discussion. You should know what is going on in the industry and be well-informed. If you feel like this is a transition you can make, then take that big step and QUIT.
Start to attend conferences/networking events so you can learn more about the reality of your dream job as well as start to make connections with people in the industry, you never know you might land an amazing job!
Quitting your job is just one major step when it comes to finding out what you really want to do with your life, after that you’ll have so much more free time to dedicate to what you want to do. Only draw back is you will be making much less money then you were when you had “that” job, with this understanding its only common to make yourself a budget so you don’t go completely broke in a few weeks. This money will hold you over while you are being found by your dream job.
But don’t let this detour you because now you are that much more closer to the dream you want to really have for yourself. Hopefully before you start on your self discovering journey, you have a good amount of money saved up so you can take care of the responsibilities you have as well as your day to day spending cash.
